Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla. - Miracle League of Manasota player Lukas Hack traveled to Pittsburgh with his family last month to participate in a Miracle League Fantasy Camp featuring Pirates' players and coaches, including Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle. Miracle League of Manasota coaches and administrators selected Hack for the special opportunity because of the abundance of passion he displayed during the 2018 Miracle League season. Hack is 13 years old and lives in Sarasota. He has participated in the Miracle League of Manasota for seven years.
The Fantasy Camp was held at the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania in Cranberry, PA on July 28. Participants from each of the 10 Pirates Charities-supported Miracle League programs were invited to attend. Pirates coaches Dave Jauss and Kimera Bartee, as well as pitchers Joe Musgrove and Steven Brault, assisted Hurdle in instructing the campers in hitting, throwing, and catching. Each Fantasy Camp participant received a Pirates jersey with their name of the back.
The Miracle League of Manasota is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for all children to play baseball, regardless of their ability. The organization maintains a synthetic surfaced baseball facility where children challenged by all forms of disabilities can be empowered to participate in the sport of baseball.
The Marauders and their parent club, the Pittsburgh Pirates, have been longtime supporters of the Miracle League. The Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles partnered to make funding available for the construction of the Miracle League of Manasota field, which opened in 2012. The Marauders host an annual clinic at the Miracle League of Manasota each summer.
