FORT MYERS, FL (August 29, 2011) - The Fort Myers Miracle announced today that they will pay tribute to the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a "Remember the 9-11 Heroes Night" at Hammond Stadium on Friday, September 2.

The on-field ceremonies will occur before the Miracle host the Jupiter Hammerheads in the regular season home finale at 7:05 p.m. The tribute coincides with Fan Appreciation Fireworks, marking the end to the 20thseason of Miracle Baseball in Southwest Florida.

During the pre-game ceremony, representatives from police, fire, rescue and the airline industry will be honored for their heroic efforts on that tragic day.

Participants will include Ken Davis a retired NYC EMS worker and Miracle season ticket holder. Davis was stationed inside the World Trade Center in rescue operation mode when the towers fell.

"I was a proud paramedic and really enjoyed my job until I got injured. I am not able to help as much as I would like, but this gesture on the Miracle's part to honor and remember those from 9-11 means the world to me and my family," said Davis, who was stationed at Battalion 22 in Staten Island.

Davis will present special "9-11" bands to the Miracle players prior to the game to wear and help honor those that are the true heroes.

"I moved to Florida to escape the constant thoughts of that day and found a connection to Miracle Baseball. I was a paramedic in New York City for 17 years and I am always looking to lend a hand and it's just a small thing to present the guys with a token of my appreciation," said Davis.

Deputy Lee County Sheriff Joseph Andujar is a retired NYPD Police Officer and 9-11 first responder and survivor.

"It is a day that you will never forget and it's vitally important that we keep this memory alive 10 years later," said Alvarado.

Alvarado represents the SWF 10-13 association, a retired Law Enforcement fraternal organization.

Fans will be able to view a NYPD motorcycle and a fully functional NYPD Police Car in front of Hammond Stadium near the fountain.

Other pre-game activities include:

-Local artist Leoma Lovegrove will present her "Remember 9-11 Tenth Year" canvas to the SWF 10-13 during the pre-game ceremonies.

The 18-foot-by-10-foot canvas is traveling around Southwest Florida and contains more than 3,000 victim's names, painted by hundreds of people from around the area.

-The Colors will be presented by South Trail Fire & Rescue Honor Guard, the Fort Myers bagpipers will perform and a flyover by the Lee County Sheriff's Aerial Unit.

Tickets are available for Fan Appreciation Fireworks at the Fort Myers Miracle 3rd floor Hammond Stadium ticket office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.miraclebaseball.com, with the Miracle's online ticket system allowing fans the ability to select their exact seat location for each game and print tickets at home.
