Tampa, FL. - Tampa Yankees outfielder Abe Almonte has hit safely in 30 consecutive games. The hit-steak started on July 26th when the T-Yanks played the Fort Myers Miracle.
During his 30-game hit streak, Almonte is batting .346 (43-for-124) with six doubles, five triples, and 15 RBI. He has had 13 multi-hit-games during the span. Almonte leads the Tampa Yankees in runs scored (86), hits (134), triples (11), totals bases (191), and walks (50).
The hit-streak is the longest streak in the Florida State League this season.
Almonte was signed by the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2005 and is in his 5th Minor League season. In 2010 he was limited to 17 games with Tampa, batting .263 with three doubles, one triple, and three RBI before undergoing season ending surgery for a right labrum tear.
