5 Things to Know about #MINvFCD

Zobeck Makes History

Following a first-half injury to starting keeper Jimmy Maurer, Iowa native Kyle Zobeck made his FCD and MLS debut last game against Sporting KC- a full seven years after being drafted by the club in the 2013 MLS Supplemental draft. It made him the oldest player taken in an MLS draft (whether that draft be Super, Supplemental, College, and excluding the inaugural 1996 player draft) to make his debut at 30 years, 209 days old. With Maurer still recovering, Zobeck is slated to make his first MLS start this Wednesday in Minnesota.

Readying Ricaurte

New midfield signing Andrés Ricaurte made Dallas' match day squad for the first time last week in Kansas City. Although he didn't see the field, it's a sign that he's being readied for his MLS and FCD debut. Considering Paxton Pomykal is looking at six months on the sidelines following surgery, Ricaurte could be called upon to fill the Homegrown playmaker's boots and make his debut sooner rather than later.

Jara Off the Mark

Forward Franco Jara got off the mark in FC Dallas colors and scored his first MLS goal last week against Sporting KC. It was nine minutes into his fifth game when Bryan Acosta found Jara on the edge of the box and the former Pachuca forward carried it a few yards before chipping Sporting's Tim Melia in goal to give FC Dallas the lead. The goal helped Dallas extend its unbeaten run to four games with a point at Children's Mercy Park.

Against Minnesota

This is the eighth meeting between Dallas and Minnesota. FC Dallas' all-time record against the Loons is 5-2-0 with 14 goals scored and nine against. When playing away, Dallas has a 1-2-0 record (two goals scored, five against) all-time against Minnesota. Last month, Dallas defeated the Loons 3-1 at Toyota Stadium thanks to goals from Fafa Picault, Jesús Ferreira and Reto Ziegler.

About Minnesota

Minnesota began 2020 with two wins before the season was halted. The team had a strong MLS is Back tournament, earning two wins and a draw in the group stage before progressing to the semifinal where they fell to Orlando City SC. Last time out, the Loons ended a five-game winless run with a 4-0 victory over Real Salt Lake at Allianz Field.
