September 8, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) travels to Sandy, Utah to face Western Conference foe Real Salt Lake tomorrow, September 9, at 6:30 p.m. PT at Rio Tinto Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on YouTube TV, Estrella TV, and on radio on the ESPN LA 710AM, ESPN App and KFWB 980 AM.
LAFC is looking to regain its footing after falling to crosstown rival Galaxy 3-0 on Sunday night at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The match against Real Salt Lake was originally scheduled for August 26 but was one of five MLS games postponed in support of the players standing in solidarity with the Black community. Tomorrow's meeting will mark the fifth time these two clubs have met in the regular season, with LAFC owning a perfect 4-0-0 record, including a pair of wins at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The Black & Gold opened the 25th MLS season with a 1-0 win over expansion side Inter Miami CF on March 1 and a 3-3 draw against the Philadelphia Union on March 8 before the season was suspended on March 12 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the MLS is Back Tournament, LAFC was eliminated by Orlando City SC in the Quarterfinals by way of penalties, but not before picking up five regular season points in the group stage with draws against Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers, and a 6-2 win over the Galaxy.
The Club suffered back-to-back losses to the Galaxy and Seattle Sounders in the first two games of phase one, took three points from San Jose before falling to the Galaxy for the second time. LAFC currently sits 7th place in the Western Conference with a 3-3-3 record (12 points).
