Minnesota United Signs MLS SuperDraft 2024 Pick Hugo Bacharach

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed defender Hugo Bacharach to a one-year deal, with club options for 2025, 2026 and 2027. Bacharach will occupy an international roster spot pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and ITC.

Hailing from Benicàssim, Spain, Hugo Bacharach was selected in the first round as the Loons' ninth overall pick of the MLS SuperDraft 2024.

He was a versatile defender in his collegiate career, rotating between center back and defensive midfield roles. Bacharach's defensive efforts helped Indiana to an undefeated run, winning 12 of 13 matches during the 2023 season. The Spaniard played three seasons at Fairleigh Dickinson, where he notably led FDU to NEC regular-season and tournament titles, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022. He made 38 appearances from 2020-22, recording seven goals. Bacharach received multiple accolades with the Burgundy and Blue, where he was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year and earned three First Team All-NEC nods. Prior to his collegiate career, Bacharach trained with LaLiga's Villarreal CF Academy.
