Minnesota United Signs Midfielders Emmanuel Iwe and Zaydan Bello to Short Term Loans

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (March 24, 2023) - Minnesota United announced today the club has signed MNUFC2 midfielders Emmanuel Iwe and Zaydan Bello to a Short-Term Agreement, making them available for Saturday's MLS regular season home match against Vancouver Whitecaps at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Iwe joined MNUFC2 after a season at St. Cloud State University and was the first Minnesota-native to be signed by MNUFC2. During the 2022 season, the midfielder made 16 appearances, 13 starts, scoring two goals and providing two assists before his season ended in August due to a ligament tear on his right foot. Additionally, Iwe made a substitute appearance for MNUFC in the international friendly against Everton FC in July 2022, his debut appearance with the First Team.

Bello joined MNUFC2 in November 2022 ahead of the 2023 season. He most recently played for Melbourne Victory in the A-League Men, of the Australian topflight. A product of Victory's Academy since the age of 15, the midfielder made four appearances for the first team during the 2021 season. Bello was notably the team captain for Victory's Youth Club that competes in the National Premier Leagues (NPL), the second tier of soccer in Australia.
