Minnesota Lynx News Release

This Week's Opponents - New York and Phoenix The Lynx are looking to revamp their fortunes after a rough road trip out west in which the team went 1-2 and lost their leading scorer, Seimone Augustus, for the season after she tore her ACL in her left knee.

The Lynx first opponent this week is the New York Liberty. Last season the Lynx split with the Liberty, but New York is still 11-6 all-time against the Lynx, including 7-2 all-time at Target Center. Last year Candice Wiggins excelled off the bench for the Lynx against the Liberty, scoring 26 points in 27:33 minutes of play the first game and 15 points in 29:12 minutes of play at Target Center.

The second game will feature the Lynx against the Phoenix Mercury at Target Center. Saturday will be the second of six games televised by FS North. Last Wednesday the Mercury outlasted the Lynx, outscoring the Lynx 50-32 after half in a 104-80 victory. Diana Taurasi recorded 28 points, and rookie DeWanna Bonner recorded 21 points and hauled in ten rebounds.

It will be important for the Lynx to be able to hold onto the lead throughout the game. So far this season the Lynx are 4-0 when leading after the third quarter, but are 0-3 when trailing their opponent after the third.

Five Home Games On the Way After a three game road trip the Lynx will now play the five of the next six games here in Minnesota, tying their longest stretch at home of the season. The Lynx will close out July and begin August playing five of six games at the Target Center. So far this season the Lynx are 2-1 at home.
