Monarchs Host Reading Timeout for START Program Students

As part of the WNBA's Read to Achieve campaign, Monarchs players Scholanda Robinson and Chelsea Newton will host a Reading Timeout presented by Monarchs partner University of Phoenix for children from the Sacramento START program. Robinson and Newton will read books to the children, sign autographs and take photos. They will also surprise them with Monarchs prizes.

START is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding after school programs in the United States. The program fosters enthusiasm for learning through fun and structured activities in a safe and caring after school environment.

Read to Achieve is a year-round campaign to help young people develop a lifelong love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, Read to Achieve is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.
