Southern Illinois Miners News Release
MARION, Ill. - Live professional wrestling will precede a Miners game as the Southern Illinois Miners will host the first ever Pro Wrestling Night at Rent One Park on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009.
Before the Miners take on the Gateway Grizzlies, there will be a special five-match wrestling show featuring talent from All American Pro Wrestling (AAPW) with the main event match featuring former WWE Superstar Al Snow against former WWE Superstar Kevin Thorn.
The gates will open at 5 p.m. with bell time scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
"We are very excited to have All American Pro Wrestling add to Pro Wrestling Night at Rent One Park," said Miners Director of Entertainment and Promotions Chris Hagstrom. "Besides showing classic matches and wrestling entrance videos for the players, having a wrestling show before the game will really add to the night."
The AAPW Tag Team Champions "Old School Thunder" Ax Allwardt and "Thunderbolt" Brandon Walker will also appear and defend their titles against the team of RAGE.
Other AAPW talent in attendance will include Edmund "Livewire" McGuire, "Homicidal" Steven Davis, Carnage, Curly, Mark Sterling, and the 450 pound Mississippi Madman.
In addition to Pro Wrestling Night, Modern Woodman of America will have a special giveaway that night as well. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Modern Woodman of America tape measure.
"It's another great promotion to add on top of an already stellar night," says Hagstrom. "We want to remind our fans that the Modern Woodman of America tape measures will be handed out when the gates open at 5 p.m."
More information regarding a full schedule of events, times and costs will be announced in the coming weeks.
