Milwaukee Admirals News Release
VS. BARONS...Friday night's match-up is the first of six meetings between the Admirals and Barons this season. The two teams split the four tilts last season. Each team held serve at home with Milwaukee winning 3-2 (OT) and 2-0 at the Bradley Center. Three of the four games were decided by one or two goals. The Barons are the top developmental affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.
FOR OPENERS...Last Saturday's season opening 6-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage was the team's eighth win in their last 11 home openers (8-2-0-1). Since 1977, the Admirals are 15-10-0-1 in season openers with a 16-9-0-1 record in home openers during that time.
ROSTER REVISIONS...Forward Nathan Perrott has been reassigned to the Admirals and Adam Hall has been recalled by the Nashville Predators. Perrott accumulated 190 penalty minutes in just 56 games for the Admirals last season. He finished the year playing in 22 games for Nashville. Hall scored two goals and two assists in four games for the Admirals last season.
THESE KIDS CAN PLAY...Rookies Darren Haydar and Dan Hamhuis marked their professional debuts with their first professional points in Saturday's win over the San Antonio Rampage. Haydar leads the team in scoring with three assists and finished at +2 while Hamhuis netted his first professional goal at 13:57 of the third period to give the Admirals' a 4-2 lead. As the 12th player selected in the draft in 2001, Hamhuis is the highest drafted Nashville Predator to play for Milwaukee. Admirals' teammate Jonas Andersson (#33, '99) previously held that honor. Hamhuis stormed through a junior hockey career that included being chosen the Canadian Hockey League's Defenseman of the Year last season. He was the first Western Hockey League skater since 1977 to win the league's Player of the Year and Defenseman of the Year awards in the same season. Hamhuis scored 60 pts (10g-50a) in 59 games last season for Prince George (WHL). Haydar was second in the nation in scoring with 76 pts (31g-45a) during his senior season at the University of New Hampshire.
DYNAMITE DEBUTS...Along with the rookie exploits of Darren Haydar and Dan Hamhuis, five other first-time Admirals dented the scoring column Saturday night. Cameron Mann notched two assists, Wyatt Smith recorded a goal and an assist, Greg Koehler tallied the team's first power play goal, and Mitch Fritz banged home his first goal in an Admirals' uniform.
POP IN THE POWER PLAY...The Admirals tied a team AHL record by notching three power play goals in eight chances Saturday night. The team recorded three power play goals in two games in last year's inaugural AHL season.
A CHANGE'LL DO YA GOOD...For the fifth straight time, a coaching change has led to a season opening win. Peter Horachek joins Dave Allison, Al Sims, Phil Wittliff and Curt Fraser in the current line of coaches that won games following a coaching change.
ENOUGH TO GO AROUND...Ten different Milwaukee Admirals recorded points and six different Admirals scored goals in Saturday's 6-2 win over San Antonio. Darren Haydar (0g-3a), Wyatt Smith (1g-1a), Cameron Mann (0g-2a), Jonas Andersson (1g-1a), and Peter Smrek (0g-2a) recorded multiple-point games in the opener.
AN ADMIRAL AND A CAPTAIN...Center Domenic Pittis was named captain of the Admirals last Friday. His debut, however, was cut short by injury. He will not play Friday against Cleveland. Defenseman Mark Eaton and center Wyatt Smith will serve as alternate captains. Pittis signed as a free agent with the Nashville Predators during the off-season and was assigned to Milwaukee during training camp. He last played against the Admirals while a member of the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the IHL during the 1996-97 season. His best year as a pro came with the 1998-99 Rochester Americans when he scored 104 points (38g-66a) in 76 games and also led the AHL in playoff scoring with 21 points (97g-14a) in 20 games.

Fans will be able to hear all 80 games live on WJYI and via the internet on SportsJuice.com. Web listeners can listen to the games from anywhere in the world through a link on the Admirals website (www.milwaukeeadmirals.com).
