Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons announced today that they have signed defenseman Deron Quint to a Professional Try-out Agreement. Quint joined the Falcons on Wednesday and is expected to be in the lineup this weekend when the Falcons play three games in three days.

Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon stated, "Deron is a highly-skilled defenseman that will give us an offensive threat on the blueline and also adds depth to our organization."

This will be Quint's second stint with the Phoenix Coyotes and Springfield Falcons. He played for the Falcons from 1995-1998 collecting 37 points in 62 regular season games. Quint is tied for 3rd on the Falcons all-time playoff points leader list with 14 points in 22 post-season games with Springfield.

Quint was traded by the Phoenix Coyotes on March 7, 2000 to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Lyle Odelein. He was then traded by New Jersey to Columbus on June 23, 2000 and spent the past two seasons in the Blue Jackets organization. Quint was the Winnipeg Jets' 1st choice (30th overall) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
