Milkmen Show Power, But Drop Finale to RailCats
July 30, 2019 - American Association (AA)
Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
A crisp, cool summer night was the backdrop for the series finale against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
The Milkmen roared out of the gates in the first with Riley Pittman hitting a lead-off solo shot (his second in two games and third on the season).
Gary would answer in the second with a solo home run from second baseman Thomas Wallraven.
Milwaukee reclaimed the lead in the sixth off a sac fly from Dan Ward to score Garrett Copeland.
Gary would tie the game in the eighth, but the Milkmen would answer back and take the lead in the eighth with a no doubter by Dan Ward.
Going into the ninth, Milwaukee surrendered 2 home runs and couldn't return in the bottom of the inning. Milwaukee would have 10 hits and leave 10 men on.
Milkmen starter, Kurt Heyer, pitched 7 solid innings, allowing just 3 hits, 1 run, no walks and 6 strikeouts. Myles Smith walked away with the loss (3) for the night.
The boys stay at home for the next three game series to take on the Saint Paul Saints.
Game 1 is July 30 with a 7:05 pm first pitch. Join us for Triple Play Tuesday for $2 hot dogs, pretzels, and soda. For more information, visit milwaukeemilkmen.com.
