Saints End Homestand on Positive Note, Win 6-3 over T-Bones

ST. PAUL, MN - Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. As the St. Paul Saints embark on a nine game roadtrip they hope their final home game can give them some momentum. They got a solid pitching performance from Benji Waite and Michael Lang, who came over in a trade from Sioux City, collected two hits and two RBI as the Saints ended their five game losing streak doubling up the Kansas City T-Bones 6-3 on Tuesday night at CHS Field in front of 7,423. The win improves the Saints to 41-26 on the season.

Former Major Leaguer Chris Colabello did all the damage for the T-Bones early on as the Saints fell behind in the first. With one out Mason Davis walked and with two outs Colabello doubled him home giving the T-Bones a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth Colabello drilled a solo homer to right-center, his fourth of the season, making it 2-0. Waite went 5.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits while walking four and striking out two.

The Saints offense finally came through in the bottom of the inning and they got some help from Dylan Baker who had trouble with his control. Brady Shoemaker led off with a single to right and he moved to second on John Silviano's single to left-center. A fly out moved Shoemaker to third. With one out, Blake Schmit hit a tapper in front of the plate and he reached on an infield single as Shoemaker scored making it 2-1. With two outs Troy Alexander was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mike Aiello followed by being hit by a pitch that forced in a run tying the game at two. Dan Motl stepped to the plate and grounded a single up the middle scoring two runs giving the Saints a 4-2 lead.

In the sixth the T-Bones got to within one when Daniel Nava crushed a solo homer to right-center, his fifth of the season, making it 4-3 Saints.

The Saints added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Aiello walked with two outs. Motl then reached on a fielding error by the third baseman Romano. That allowed Lang to cash in on the mistake as he tripled into the right field corner scoring both runners giving the Saints a three run lead. He finished the game 2-4 with a triple and two RBI.

The Saints head out on the road for their first ever trip to Routine Field with a three-game series beginning Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Saints are TBA and the Milkmen send RHP Angel Ventura (5-6, 2.76) to the mound. The game can be heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
