Milkmen Score Nine Unanswered Runs to Beat Dogs.

Franklin, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen defeated the Chicago Dogs in a comeback game to win their second series of the season against their rivals two games to one.

In the bottom of the first inning, it looked as though the Dogs might run away with game three. Starting pitcher Myles Smith gave up four hits and three walks in the first inning and the Dogs scored six runs. However, Smith was able to regain his composure and went on to pitch the next five innings while giving up only three hits and no runs.

"He's (Smith) been there and done it, he's a vet, and he's seen pretty much everything throughout his career," Manager Anthony Barone said of Smith's ability to bounce back from his six run inning. "He knew to relax and get through the next couple innings and give our offense a chance."

While Smith began to put batters out again, the Milkmen offense began to chip away at the Chicago lead. Will Kengor hit a home run that also scored Keon Barnum in the second and Mason Davis singled in the third to score Bryan Torres. Just like that Milwaukee cut the lead in half.

The Milkmen then continued to score, Correlle Prime hit a double in the fifth to score Chad Sedio, and Aaron Hill hit a solo home run in the sixth. Then in the seventh inning, Kengor doubled to score Prime to tie the game at six, Hill then followed Kengor with another double and Milwaukee took the lead. Finally in the eighth, Davis hit a two-run home run that sent himself and Torres home to extend the lead 9-6.

Juan Echevarria then gave up another run in the eighth inning, but Karch Kowalczyk closed the ninth without giving up a hit and Milwaukee defeated their rivals by a score of 9-7.

The Milkmen have now hit seven home runs and scored 22 total runs over the last two games. Milwaukee looks to keep their hot hitting going as they now head back to Franklin Field for a series against the Gary Southshore Railcats that begins Friday at 6:35 p.m.
