Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
Franklin, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen lost game one of their three game series against the Gary Southshore Railcats.
Through the top of the fifth inning, the game was a pitcher's duel. Gary Southshore allowed only one hit and starting pitcher for the Milkmen Ryan Zimmerman was perfect through three innings before giving up two hits in the fourth and fifth.
Milwaukee finally broke the scoreless game when Aaron Hill advanced to third on a passed ball and was driven home from a Bryan Torres single. The Railcats then responded with a score in the top of the sixth to tie the game.
The tides then turned in the top of the seventh when Zimmerman and Takoda Metoxen combined to allow three home runs to make the Gary Southshore lead 5-1.
Hill scored again in the bottom of the seventh inning when Chad Sedio hit a long single to drive Hill home from second, and gave the Milkmen some hope to make a comeback. But in the top of the ninth inning, two errors and a home run scored three more for the Railcats and Milwaukee was unable to record a hit in the bottom of the inning, and the Milkmen ultimately lost 8-2.
Milwaukee will still play two more games against the Gary Southshore Railcats and still have the opportunity to win the series.
Tomorrow's game is Sweet Teats jersey auction night and candy drop. Be sure to be at Franklin Field at 6:00 p.m. for the special night and fireworks.
Tickets are available at MilwaukeeMilkmen.com or at the Box Office prior to the game.
