Colorado Rapids News Release
The Colorado Rapids and Mile High Sports Radio announced on Wednesday that all 34 of the club's 2014 regular season matches will be broadcast on FM 94.1 and www.MileHighSports.com. This season will mark the third straight year that the club's English-language radio partner will be Mile High Sports, and coverage starts with the March 15 season opener at the New York Red Bulls at 2 p.m. MT.
"Mile High Sports has been a great partner for years, and they continue to show their commitment to the Rapids by airing all our matches live this season," said Rapids President Tim Hinchey. "This is another platform to showcase the great broadcast team of Richard Fleming and Marcelo Balboa, and we look forward to hearing them on Mile High Sports Radio's new station at FM 94.1 in Denver."
"We couldn't be more thrilled to have the Rapids on Mile High Sports Radio again this season," said MHSR president James Merilatt. "We have become the 'Home of the Rapids,' which we are extending across all of our platforms "" radio, magazine and online. And fans are flocking to the content."
The broadcasts on Mile High Sports Radio will feature a live simulcast from Altitude for matches that are being carried by the television network. Experienced English journalist and Rapids Director of Broadcasting Richard Fleming is again on play-by-play, with Rapids legend and World Cup veteran Marcelo Balboa doing color. When the Rapids feature on national television, Fleming and Balboa will call the game exclusively for Mile High Sports.
Balboa can also be heard on Sunday afternoons from 4-6 p.m. on Mile High Sports Radio with his soccer show, From the Pitch. Featuring talk of Colorado soccer, the Rapids, and the game around the country and throughout the world, From the Pitch is Denver's exclusive soccer-only show.
The Rapids' first home match of 2014 will be on Saturday, March 22 at 4 p.m. against the Portland Timbers. For more information on the team, or to purchase tickets, visit www.ColoradoRapids.com or call 303-825-GOAL.
