Columbus Crew SC News Release


1. Houston Dynamo -- 3 pts. | 4-0 win vs. New England Revolution, Week Two: vs. Montreal Impact

The Dynamo kicked-off 2014 firing on all cylinders after topping the Revolution, 4-0, at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday. Will Bruin scored a pair of goals and could be a legitimate Golden Boot contender if he finds consistency this year after registering 25 goals in his first three seasons as a pro. Dominic Kinnear's side looks to keep momentum up in Week Two as it hosts the Montreal Impact.

2. Columbus Crew -- 3 pts. | 3-0 win at D.C. United, Week Two: BYE

The Gregg Berhalter Era of the Crew started with a bang as the Black & Gold beat a revamped D.C. United side 3-0 on the road thanks to the stellar build up of goals from the strike tandem of Jairo Arrieta and Federico HiguaÃ-n. The Crew is off this week and hosts the Philadelphia Union on March 22 in its home opener (TICKETS). 

3. Philadelphia Union -- 1 pt. | 1-1 draw at Portland Timbers, Week Two: vs. New England Revolution

Points are never easy to come by in Portland, but the Union was able to hold on for a draw against the Timbers. Philadelphia hosts the New England Revolution at PPL Park in Week Two.

4. Toronto FC -- 0 pts. | BYE, Week Two: at Seattle Sounders FC

The Reds were idle in Week One, but all eyes will be on TFC in Week Two as Michael Bradley and Jermain Defoe make their debut against Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday (4:30 p.m. ET / NBCSN).

5. Chicago Fire -- 0 pts. | 3-2 loss at Chivas USA, Week Two: at Portland Timbers 

The Fire attack showed promise in Week One as Benji Joya and Quincy Amarikwa tallied for the Men in Red. A re-tooled backline showed cause for concern, however, leaking three goals against Chivas USA. Chicago continues play on the West Coast in Week Two, traveling to Portland.

6. Montreal Impact -- 0 pts. | 3-2 loss at FC Dallas, Week Two: at Houston Dynamo

Though the Impact was able to score twice, Marco Di Vaio (suspended through March 22) was sorely missed in the final third as Montreal fell at FC Dallas, 3-2. The Impact travels to Houston in Week Two.

7. Sporting Kansas City -- 0 pts. | 1-0 loss at Seattle Sounders FC, Week Two: vs. Cruz Azul, FC Dallas

The defending MLS Cup champion was a bit unlucky in stoppage time as Seattle's Chad Barrett found the winner for the Rave Green in the 94th minute. Now Sporting must juggle CONCACAF Champions League play with MLS as it welcomes Cruz Azul and FC Dallas to Kansas City in Week Two.

8. New York Red Bulls -- 0 pts. | 4-1 loss at Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Week Two: vs. Colorado Rapids

Last year's Supporters' Shield winners were shocked in the Pacific Northwest as Vancouver topped the Red Bulls, 4-1, in Week One. Mike Petke's men will look to rebound in Week Two as they welcome the Colorado Rapids.

9. D.C. United -- 0 pts. | 3-0 loss vs. Columbus Crew, Week Two: BYE

Though there were plenty of new faces in United's lineup, the result was the same as many of its matches in 2013 as the Crew claimed a 3-0 victory at RFK Stadium. The Black-and-Red will have two weeks to regroup before traveling to Toronto on March 22.

10. New England Revolution -- 0 pts. | 4-0 loss at Houston Dynamo, Week Two: at Philadelphia Union

Perhaps new additions Daigo Kobayashi and Teal Bunbury need more time to gel as the Revs looked nothing like the surprise playoff team they were in 2013 against the Dynamo. New England's travels continue in Week Two as Jay Heaps' side visits the Philadelphia Union.
