Chicago Fire Reserve Team to Face Indy Eleven and Marquette University in Friendlies

CHICAGO (March 12, 2014) - In an effort to broaden its reach and give reserve players more game experience, the Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Wednesday that its Reserve Team will play two additional friendly matches. The first game will be against the North American Soccer League's Indy Eleven at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. CT, The second will be against Marquette University at Toyota Park on Sunday, April 6 TBD.

"We're excited to add games above and beyond the 10-game reserve league schedule," said Chicago Fire Technical Director Brian Bliss. "These additional games will give some of our younger and reserve players more opportunities to develop their skills through increased playing time."

"Beyond the benefits to the First Team, these additional games are great opportunities to expand the Club's reach," said Chicago Fire COO Atul Khosla. "It will be especially fun to have our guys go head-to-head with Peter Wilt's new club. Hopefully this is the first of many opportunities to partner together as we continue to grow our brand across the Great Lakes Region."

The Fire expects to explore adding additional reserve matches in other key markets in and around Chicagoland.

Additional Notes and Ticket Info:

- Tickets for the Indy Eleven match will cost $11 for general admission or $15 for reserved seating are on sale at www.IndyEleven.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate on April 1.

- Admission for the Marquette Friendly is free and open to the general public on the Toyota Park Practice Field.

- Launched by Keystone Group CEO Ersal Ozdemir on Jan. 16, 2013, and led by former Fire president Peter Wilt, Indy Eleven opens NASL play on April 12 against the Carolina RailHawks. The side is coached by former U.S. international Juergen Sommer and assistant coach Tim Regan, a Fire PDL product.

- Chicago Fire Academy products on Marquette's roster include: Charlie Lyon, Brady Wahl, Louis Bennett II, Jake Taylor and Daniel Szczepanek. David Selvaggi is also a Chicago Fire PDL alum.
