Altoona Curve News Release

The Eastern League today announced that Altoona Curve left-hander Mike Connolly has been selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 28th.

Connolly won both of his starts during the week, combining to allow just two runs and four hits in 14 innings. The 23-year old allowed just one run on two hits over seven innings to earn his first win of the week in the Curve's 10-2 win over Bowie Tuesday night, then produced the same numbers in picking up the victory in Altoona's 3-1 win Sunday afternoon at Erie. His win over Erie on Sunday was also his franchise record 25th in a Curve uniform, surpassing the previous mark held by both John Grabow and Brian O'Connor.

For the season, the Oneona, NY native is 5-3 with a 4.07 ERA in 11 starts and 41 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings of work.

Connolly becomes the third Curve player to receive Eastern League honors this season. Outfielder Adam Boeve was named the league's Player of the Month for April, while outfielder Vic Buttler was the E.L. Batter of the Week for the week ending May 14.

The first-place Altoona Curve (33-18) will open a three-game series against the Akron Aeros (AA/Cleveland Indians) Tuesday night at Canal Park in Akron. Right-hander Landon Jacobsen (5-4, 3.55) will take the mound for the Curve for the 7:05 PM contest.
