July 16, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release
Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, Wichita, KS - Arkansas Travelers RHP Miguel Gonzalez has been named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week for July 9 through 15. Gonzalez made one start during the week and threw the Travs' first complete-game shutout of the season on July 11. In the first complete game of his career, Gonzalez twirled a three-hitter in the Travs' 7-0 victory at Tulsa to lower his ERA to a league-best 2.80. The 23-year old Gonzalez has put together a fine season heading into Monday night's start at Wichita. After making his first 11 appearances out of the bullpen, Gonzalez was moved into the starting rotation in early May where he has flourished with a 4-2 record and 2.77 ERA in 11 starts. Overall, Gonzalez is 5-3 with a save and a 2.80 ERA in 22 appearances.
Undrafted out of LA Mission College, Gonzalez signed with the Los Angeles Angels as a free agent in December 2004. He joined the Travs during the 2006 season and held an 0-2 record with four saves in 31 appearances and posted a 3.88 ERA, the lowest for any Travs pitcher who threw over 50 innings. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Gonzalez has made his home in San Fernando, California for the past 15 years.
