Midland Blasts Past Northwest Arkansas, 6-4

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - *As *The Great American Blast* began at Arvest Ballpark, the Midland RockHounds (6-2, 39-39) used three two-run blasts of their own to get past the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (4-4, 33-45) on Friday night by a 6-4 final.

After a rain soaked afternoon, a crowd of 4,711 gathered to begin the Fourth of July weekend celebration. The Midland offense was also in the celebrating mood as a couple of familiar names got the RockHounds' offense going early against Naturals' starter *RHP Ashton Goudeau (2-6, 3.92 ERA)*. Second baseman *Franklin Barreto* led off the game with a double and came around to score on a towering two-run home run off the bat of last night's hero for the Hounds, *Carson Blair*. The first inning home run for Blair was only his third of the season but also his third in his last five at-bats. Two batters later, *Matt Chapman*, the Texas League leader in home runs added a two-run homer to put Midland up 4-0. The homer was Chapman's 19 th of the season. So far this series, he and Blair have combined to go 7-for-16 with three home runs.

The game would remain 4-0 until the fifth when the RockHounds would deliver their final blow when *Tyler Marincov* would connect on a two-run shot of his own to extend the lead to 6-0. The Midland right fielder was spectacular all game as he flashed the leather with a tumbling catch on the right field warning track in the third to rob *Zane Evans* of extra-bases and then excelled at the plate by going 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a home run.

Trailing 6-0 in the sixth, the Naturals would begin to fight back. *Corey Toups* doubled down the left field line with one-out, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then came around to score on a *Mauricio Ramos* sacrifice fly for a 6-1 game. Northwest Arkansas then mounted one last charge in the eighth as they posted a four spot. *Carlos Garcia* scored on an infield error before *Ryan O'Hearn* roped a two-out double to left-center field to score *Corey Toups* and *Bubba Starling.* O'Hearn came into the game ranked second in the circuit in hitting (.302) and went 1-for-4 with the two-run double.

Northwest Arkansas will continue their current six (6) game homestand with the series finale against the Midland RockHounds (Double-A Oakland A's) tomorrow night - Saturday, July 2 - with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. for *The Great American Blast Night #2 Fireworks Spectacular by Castrol featuring Saturday Happy Hour in The Bullpen from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m*. The RockHounds will send *RHP Joel Seddon (2-6, 6.66 ERA) *to the mound while the Naturals will counter with *LHP Eric Skoglund (4-5, 3.50 ERA)*.
