Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa - April 1, 2013 - MidAmerican Energy Company and the Iowa Energy are teaming up for Green Week beginning April 1.
Iowa Energy players, coaches and staff will join MidAmerican Energy representatives at Four Mile Creek on April 2 and Easter Lake Park on April 3 to aid in the greening and cleanup of waterways, walking paths and community shelter areas.
Green Week will conclude with MidAmerican Energy sponsoring Iowa Energy Go Green nights at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines on April 4 and April 6. The games will showcase the importance of energy efficiency, and the first 500 guests to enter each game will receive a reusable tote bag.
Iowa Energy players will wear green jerseys for both games to promote the importance of energy efficiency. Following the games, select players' jerseys will be auctioned off, and all proceeds from the auction will go to MidAmerican Energy's I CARE program. I CARE helps customers who are unemployed, living on fixed or low incomes, or experiencing a family crisis by assisting in the payment of their utility bills or making their homes more energy efficient. I CARE funding comes from customer donations, with a 25 percent match by MidAmerican Energy for all funds raised. All donations go directly to the agency that oversees the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program in the area where the contribution originated.
At each game, MidAmerican Energy will have a booth to provide tips and information about energy efficiency programs to attendees. The first 50 guests to stop by the table at each game will receive a green mini basketball.
During the Iowa Energy games, attendees will hear MidAmerican Energy's Top 10 energy efficiency tips and messages about no- to low-cost energy saving ideas to make homes and small businesses more energy efficient. MidAmerican Energy also will retire enough renewable energy credits to offset the energy usage at Wells Fargo Arena for both games.
MidAmerican Energy encourages its customers to go green this spring by implementing energy efficiency measures. Information about energy efficiency programs and tips are available on MidAmerican Energy's website and Twitter and Facebook pages, which can be accessed via www.midamericanenergy.com.
