Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Michael Ouzas has been selected as the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week for January 5-11. Ouzas went 1-1-0 with a 1.50 goals against average and a .963 save percentage in two games played last week.

Ouzas, a first year pro from Hamilton, Ontario, registered the Royals' first shutout of the season-and his third of the year-last Wednesday when he stopped all 35 shots he faced in Reading's 3-0 win over the Utah Grizzlies at The E-Center in Salt Lake City. Ouzas then stopped 42 of the 45 shots he faced on Friday in the Royals' 3-1 loss to the Idaho Steelheads at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho. In six games with the Royals this season, Ouzas has compiled a record of 2-3-0 with a 3.36 goals against average, and a .914 save percentage. Overall, Ouzas, who began the season with the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL, has a record of 12-9-1 with a 2.82 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. This marks the tenth time in the eight year history of the team that a Royals' goaltender has received the league's GOW award, and Ouzas is the eighth different Reading goaltender to receive this award.
