The New York Mets today announced that they have selected the contract of catcher ROB JOHNSON from the Buffalo Bisons. The Bisons announced that INF OSWALDO NAVARRO has been promoted to the team from Double-A Binghamton.
Navarro will be active for tonight's game in Gwinnett against the Braves.
Navarro, 27, hit .293 (22-75) with one home run and nine RBI in 22 games with Binghamton this season after having signed with New York on March 17. The infielder spent the past two seasons in the Houston Astros organization and hit .267 (84-315) with two home runs and 31RBI in 107 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2011.
Johnson appeared in 15 games for the Bisons and hit .291 (16-55) with two home runs and seven RBI. His two-run single with two outs in the top of the eighth inning last night gave Buffalo a 4-3 win over Gwinnett.
