(Binghamton, NY) April 6, 2014 - A bad-hop single by Binghamton's Travis Taijeron broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning Sunday and set the stage for a 5-4 B-Mets victory over the Akron RubberDucks in the final game of a four-game series at NYSEG Stadium.

The RubberDucks (2-2) and B-Mets (2-2) split the season-opening four game series.

Taijeron's single off Akron reliever Jordan Cooper hit the lip of the infield grass in front of first baseman Ronny Rodriguez and skipped into right field for an RBI single. It drove home Dustin Lawley, who had doubled earlier in the inning off RubberDucks starter Will Roberts (0-1).

The Mets added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth off Cooper to take a 5-2 lead into the ninth. The RubberDucks rallied in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly by Tyler Holt and RBI single by Francisco Lindor to pull to within 5-4. With runners on first and second and two outs, however, Binghamton closer Chasen Bradford fanned Rodriguez to end the game and post his second save.

Four B-Mets pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in the game. Starter Hansel Robles fanned eight in his Double-A debut.

The B-Mets held a 2-0 lead until the sixth inning. Catcher Jake Lowery laced a two-run double to right of B-Mets reliever Jack Leathersich (1-0) to tie the game.

Akron's Joe Wendle enjoyed a three-hit day for the RubberDucks, going 3-4, with a walk in the game. Wendle slugged his first homer of the year during Saturday's doubleheader.
