Published on August 6, 2008 under South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
For the first time in more than three years, the BlueClaws welcome the affiliates of BOTH the New York Mets and the New York Yankees to FirstEnergy Park in the same season. The Mets are first, as the Savannah Sand Gnats come calling for a four-game set from Monday, August 11 through Thursday, August 14. The Yankees immediately follow, with the Charleston RiverDogs visiting from Friday, August 15 through Monday, August 18.
It promises to be a very entertaining week at the ballpark. Surf Night, the team autograph party and the Famous Chicken start off the Mets series, while fireworks, the BlueClaws first-ever Nine Innings for Nature and visits from ESPN's Jayson Stark and former Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams highlight the weekend series with the Yankees affiliate. There will also be two Kids-Eat-Free Mondays, a Seniors-Eat-Free Tuesday, Seat Cushions, Team Card Sets, Yo-Yos, Tote Bags and more during this jam-packed week!
The BlueClaws are in the midst of a tight race for the second half divisional crown and a spot in the playoffs beginning the first week of September. Come on out and support the home team as they take on the future stars of the New York clubs and push for their second championship in three years.
