Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, S.C. - The record books have been written and rewritten in Fluor Field's first two seasons. And as the Greenville Drive are currently on pace to set an attendance record for the third straight year, they are also getting set to usher in another milestone - their 1,000,000th fan!
Drive Co-Owner and President, Craig Brown noted, "It is extremely gratifying to see how people across the Upstate have embraced the Drive and the downtown baseball experience at Fluor Field." Brown added, "Reaching this million fan milestone in just our 3rd season is a testimony to the success our community has realized in making quality of life a priority and rallying point."
Beginning with the next home game on Monday August 11th and continuing until the milestone is reached, the Drive will be randomly selecting one fan who will have the opportunity to serve as the honorary 1,000,000th fan. The lucky fan will represent the tremendous support the City of Greenville and the entire Upstate community have shown the Drive over the course of the first three seasons in Downtown Greenville.
The fans selected during each game will return to Fluor Field for the game in which the Drive top 1,000,000 fans for a chance to win the ultimate Greenville Drive prize package. The honorary millionth fan will receive a trip for four to Boston during the 2009 season, with airfare, hotel and tickets to a Red Sox game included. The prize package will also include Drive season tickets for 2009, generous gifts from Drive corporate partners, the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a future Drive game, appearance in an upcoming Drive advertisement, plus Drive merchandise and a personalized team jersey.
"This is an exciting milestone, which underscores the strength of the partnerships the Drive has forged with our fans, our sponsors, the City of Greenville and the entire Upstate Community", added Drive General Manager, Mike deMaine. "Honoring the 1,000,000th fan will be an exciting event, which everyone can enjoy and participate in."
Fans can follow the count-up to the milestone mark with the "Millionth Fan Tracker" located on the Greenville Drive's website (www.GreenvilleDrive.com). Following each home game, the tracker will be updated to reflect the new total attendance.
Following a four-game road trip in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the Drive return home to Fluor Field on Monday, August 11th for an eight-game homestand. The upcoming homestand will feature four-game series' with the Lexington Legends (Houston Astros affiliate) and the West Virginia Power (Milwaukee Brewers affiliate).
