Mesquite Outlaws Lose to Utica City FC 5-8

MESQUITE, Texas - The Mesquite Outlaws took on the Utica City FC at home, losing 5-8.  Attendance at the game was 1,258.

The first goal scored in the game was by Utica forward Moises Gonzalez, one of two goals he made in the first quarter. It was followed by Mesquite's only goal in the first quarter, an unassisted score by forward Bradlee Baladez. Utica continued with three more goals in the quarter, including a goal and an assist by midfielder Nate Bourdeau. In the second quarter, Utica forward/midfielder Uros Momic scored, followed by an Outlaws goal by defender Rio Ramirez and assisted by forward Jamie Lovegrove. The teams finished the half with Outlaws defender Mitchell Cardenas in the penalty box for boarding and a 2-5 score.

In the third quarter, the Outlaws were unable to kill the penalty and Utica forward Bo Jelovac scored a power play goal. Utica scored two more goals before two in a row by the Outlaws' Lovegrove. The only score in the fourth quarter was by Outlaws defender Cody Ellis, who later served as the sixth attacker when the team pulled goalie Eduardo "Pollo" Cortes.

Several players in the game scored multiple goals. The Outlaws' Lovegrove scored two goals and two assists. Both Jelovac and Gonzalez from Utica scored two games plus an assist. All three were named stars of the game. Utica's Momic also scored two goals.

The Outlaws' next game is on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3:05 p.m. vs. the Tacoma Stars in the Mesquite Arena. Tickets are available at MesquiteOutlaws.com. Fans also can watch the game on MASL.tv, or follow along with the action on Facebook or Twitter.
