Mercury to host Third Annual Father-Daughter Two-Ball Tournament

The Phoenix Mercury will host its 3rd Annual Father-Daughter Two-Ball Tournament on Saturday, June 24. Competition will begin at 11am at the U.S. Airways Center. Four age divisions are available based on the daughter's current age, including: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15 year olds.

Each Father-Daughter team will participate in a double elimination tournament and will be guaranteed at least two games against other teams. Rounds consist of a one-minute time frame for fathers and their daughters to score as many points as possible by shooting from various spots on the floor. Winning teams in each division will be recognized during the Mercury game on Sunday, June 25 with an on-court presentation. Winners will also receive a WNBA basketball signed by the 2006 Mercury team.

WHEN: Saturday, June 24

Deadline to register is Wednesday, June 21.

TIME: 11 a.m-2 p.m.

WHERE: U.S. Airways Center Main Court

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. in the Casino AZ Pavilion

COST: The Father-Daughter Two-Ball Package is priced at $40 and will include two t-shirts and two lower-level tickets to the Mercury game vs. the Chicago Sky on Sunday, June 25 at 6 p.m. Contestants will also have the opportunity to purchase additional discounted tickets to the game for family members. THE TEAM: WNBA All-Star Diana Taurasi, along with Cappie Pondexter, the #2 pick in this year's WNBA Draft, headline the starting line-up for the Mercury in 2006. Phoenix is under the direction of first-year head coach Paul Westhead, who brings his run-and-gun style and 30 years of coaching experience to the Mercury sideline.
