HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today that the team has waived forward Kayte Christensen. She was signed to an injury exception contract on May 23 due to injuries to Tamecka Dixon (strained left hamstring), Sancho Lyttle (right knee rehab) and Tari Phillips (abscess on right knee).

Christensen (6-2, UC Santa Barbara '02) averaged 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in six games with the Comets this season. She originally signed with Houston on March 24, and was waived on the final cut-down day on May 19.

In four previous seasons in the WNBA, Christensen posted career averages of 3.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.75 steals. In 2005, she averaged 1.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11 games with the Phoenix Mercury. She was selected by Phoenix in the third round (40th overall) of the 2002 WNBA Draft. During her college career, she was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team (1999) and the All-Big West First Team (2001-2002), as well as earning 2002 Big West Conference Player of the Year. Christensen also holds the record for career field goal percentage (.549) at UC Santa Barbara.
