Indiana Fever News Release

Recap and Highlights:

- Indiana lost for the first time this season with Tamika Catchings in its lineup, dropping a 70-59 decision to the Charlotte Sting despite opening the game with a 15-1 lead. Charlotte broke open a 55-55 deadlock and outscored Indiana 14-4 during the final three minutes to hand the Fever its first Eastern Conference loss of the season.

- Indiana pulled within 62-59 with 3:15 remaining, but consecutive baskets by Monique Currie and Sheri Sam pushed the Sting lead to seven with 1:04 left. The Sting took its largest lead of the contest, 68-59, on a breakaway layup by Tangela Smith with under 30 seconds remaining. A pair of free throws provided the final margin.

- Tammy Sutton-Brown paced all scorers with 18 points. Sam added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Ebony Hoffman and Anna DeForge, who sparked the Fever's opening run, both finished with 14 points for Indiana.

- Indiana burst to a 15-1 early advantage, only to watch it evaporate and trail 29-27 at the intermission.

- The Fever led 15-1, as Ebony Hoffman scored seven points and Anna DeForge hit a pair of 3-pointers during the opening run. Charlotte went the game's first 7:53 without a field goal and the Fever led 19-9 after one quarter.

- Brian Winters emptied his bench with four reserves to begin the second quarter - Charlotte Smith, Olympia Scott, Tan White and rookie La'Tangela Atkinson. The Sting used a 10-0 run to pull within 21-19, however, and after a Tamika Whitmore jumper ended the Fever drought, a jumper from Helen Darling and a layin by Tammy Sutton-Brown knotted the game at 23, with 4:04 to play. The Sting took its first lead of the contest on a putback by Sheri Sam with 10.2 seconds remaining before intermission.

- La'Tangela Atkinson's midcourt steal and breakaway layin gave the Fever its first lead of the second half, with 9:10 to play, and Tan White's acrobatic layup posted Indiana to a three-point advantage, 52-49. It would be the Fever's largest lead of the second half.
