MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis used the long ball to beat Omaha 12-6 Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds equaled a season-best with five home runs en route to their fourth straight win led by Joe Mather's two round trippers. Mather's first homer gave Memphis an early 2-0 lead. After Omaha's Mike Moustakas' two-run homer gave the Royals the lead in the third inning Allen Craig and Mather belted back-to-back home runs to regain the lead. Memphis put the game away in the fifth scoring four runs, including a leadoff home run from Daniel Descalso. Amaury Cazana hit the 'Birds final homer of the day in the eighth inning with a solo shot. Descalso collected three hits and scored three runs and Donovan Solano went 3-for-5 with two RBI to help lead the Redbirds. Ed Lucas chipped in three hits to pace the O-Royals.

Memphis starter P.J. Walters earned the win allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits over 6.1 innings. Omaha starter Edgar Osuna was rocked for eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits, including four home runs, to take the loss in his first game for the Royals.

The Redbirds and Royals will play tomorrow night with game time slated for 7:05 p.m. Ryan Kulik gets the nod for the home team against Omaha's Luis Mendoza. It will be another Moe's Monday at AutoZone Park with fans receiving one-dollar off ticket prices with a receipt from Moe's on Poplar.
