Round Rock Express News Release
NASHVILLE, TENN. - A pinch-hit RBI double by Collin DeLome in the top of the ninth inning snapped a 4-4 and highlighted a three-run inning that led the Round Rock Express to a 7-4 win over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday night in the series opener at Herschel Greer Stadium. Round Rock (44-64) now holds a 8-5 advantage in the season series over the Nashville (56-51).
The game was delayed for an hour and two minutes in the top of the eighth inning, due to a thunderstorm.
Edwin Bellorin led of the ninth with a double, followed by DeLome's game-winner. The Express added two runs on a Chris Shelton sac fly and a Drew Locke RBI single.
Gary Majewski (4-3) picked up the win in relief, working a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts. Roy Corcoran earned his eighth save of the season, working around a hit in the ninth. Express starter Josh Banks threw 6.0 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
It was Banks' first start since his last start on July 24, when he took a comebacker of his jaw that required stitches.
Mike McClendon (4-3) received the loss for the Sounds, after allowing the three runs in the ninth on four hits.
Trailing 2-0, the Express added four runs in the top half of the sixth. One-out singles by Wladimir Sutil and Brian Bogusevic put runners on before Shelton brought in Sutil on a single. Drew Locke followed with a three-run homer to left field.
Locke led the offensive attack for the Express with three hits and four RBI. Bogusevic and Bellorin each added two hits apiece.
Round Rock and Nashville continue their four-game series at Herschel Greer Stadium on Sunday with a 6:35 CDT first pitch. Round Rock will send left-hander Andy Van Hekken (6-6, 4.31 ERA) to the mound, while the Sounds counter with right-hander Marty McLeary (5-6, 7.34).
