Reno Aces News Release

TACOMA, Wash.-After Matt Torra shut down Tacoma for seven innings, the Reno Aces used a ninth-inning rally to beat Tacoma, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium.

With the game tied 2-2 heading into the ninth, Jeff Bailey led off with a double. Brandon Allen moved him to third with a base hit, and Ed Rogers drove home the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly. The Aces would strand Allen at third, but the single run proved to be the difference, as Carlos Rosa escaped from a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

Torra took a no decision, despite holding Tacoma to just two runs and six hits over seven innings. Jose Marte (2-2) earned the win, tossing a scoreless eighth, before making way for Rosa in the ninth.

Scott Patterson (2-1) was tagged with the loss for Tacoma in relief of starter Yusmeiro Petit, who also received a no decision after allowing two runs on three hits in six innings.

Drew Macias was the lone Aces hitter to record a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-2 with a run scored. Doug Deeds added his ninth home run of the season, a leadoff shot in the first.

Reno and Tacoma square off again Monday evening, featuring Reno LHP Zach Kroenke (2-3, 4.48 ERA) against Rainiers RHP Michael Pineda (3-1, 3.38 ERA). First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Cheney Stadium, and all the action can be heard live in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 1450 or online at RenoAces.com.

The Aces return home Wednesday for an eight-game homestand against Nashville and Memphis. Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
