August 26, 2009 - Northern League (NL)
Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
It's hockey night at U. S. Steel Yard tonight and the Chicago Blackhawks will be well represented with eight-time All-Star Stan Mikita, the all-time Blackhawks scoring leader, and young winger Ben Eager on hand signing autographs before the game.
Mikita, a four-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's leading scorer, played 22 seasons for the Blackhawks from 1958-80 and was part of the 1961 Stanley Cup Champions. One of the all-time great centers in the sport's history, Mikita tallied nearly 1,500 points as a pro. Eager led the league in penalty minutes in 2006-07 with the Philadelphia Flyers before being traded to the Blackhawks the next season. The 25-year-old Ottawa native scored 11 goals in a Blackhawks uniform last year as the Hawks advanced all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
Hockey night also features a one-of-a-kind bat giveaway, with the first 1,500 fans getting a Blackhawks baseball bat, courtesy Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. The hand-crafted Hoosier Bats will be available to fans of all ages tonight, with the gates opening at 6 p.m. Plus, fans who wear their favorite hockey jersey to the yard will get $2 off the price of any ticket!
Don't miss Hockey Night tonight as the first-place RailCats play for the regular season championship at U. S. Steel Yard!
