Mobile BayBears News Release
Mobile, AL-As a part of the Southern League All-Star Gala, the Mobile BayBears announced today that they will also be holding a media home run derby. Already on the schedule for the gala is a high school home run derby, with many of the top seniors from the 2005 class getting a chance to take their hacks at "The Hank." Fans, players, Southern League Executives and members of the media will also be able to watch the Major League all star game, Live from Detroit, featuring for the first time ever two former BayBears- Jake Peavy and Jason Bay.
The media home run derby will take place immediately following the high school home run derby. The field will be marked on a special scoring system so points are awarded even if the ball does not go over the fence.
Members of the Mobile BayBears Media should e-mail their nominations for the people they feel should participate to Jason Kirksey by Thursday, July 7th at 12:00 pm. The Home Run Derby is open to any member of the Media covering the Mobile BayBears.
The Southern League All-Star Gala will be held at BayBear Beach and Boardwalk on Tuesday, July 12, beginning at 6:00 pm.
