Sevierville, TN- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx offense continued its torrid pace on Tuesday night as the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Tennessee Smokies 10-4 in front of 2,209 fans at Smokies Park. The Diamond Jaxx have scored twenty-four runs and banged out thirty-four hits in the first two games of the series. The Jaxx are hitting .400 as a team through two games of the current eight game roadtrip.
Carlos Marmol picked up his first Double-A victory of the season. Marmol (1-1) gave up four runs on nine hits in six innings of work. He left the game with the score tied at four entering the top of the seventh. The Diamond Jaxx scored three runs in the seventh to take a 7-4 lead. A lead that wouldn't be challenged the rest of the night.
Brandon Sing, Matt Craig and Matt Murton homered and drove in two runs each to pace the Jaxx offense. Buck Coats had three hits, Dwaine Bacon had two hits and scored two runs and Adam Greenberg drove in two to help contribute to the sixteen hit attack.
Adam Bass suffered the loss for the Smokies. Bass (2-8) gave up seven runs (six earned) on eleven hits in seven innings of work. Noochie Varner led the Smokies attack with four hits and three RBI's. Adam Haley also had three hits including a home run to help pace the ten hit attack.
Game three of the four game series takes place on Wednesday night at 6:15 CDT. Left-hander Renyel Pinto (4-1 2.05) takes the mound for the Diamond Jaxx. The Smokies will counter with righty Dustin Nippert (3-1 3.13).
