Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL and Medalistà Performance Sports Apparel, a Reading-based manufacturer of performance apparel products, today jointly announced that they have entered into a partnership under which the Royals' players will wear Medalist base layer apparel with Silvermaxà technology under their gear during the 2006-07 season. An elite quality, high performance fiber, the surface of which is permanently bonded with 99.9% pure silver, Silvermax technology has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth that causes odor, to regulate thermodynamic body temperature, and to provide for excellent freedom of motion, while remaining static and noise free. Medalist performance apparel products will also be available to the public through the Royals' Fan-Attic Merchandise Store.
Gordon Kaye, the general manager of the Royals, stated, "we're pleased to enter into this partnership with Medalist. Not only do they manufacture elite quality performance apparel, but they are also a Reading-based company that has long been an innovator in our business community. We're proud to make Medalist a part of the Royals' team, and we're confident that our players are going to be extremely pleased with the quality of technology they'll have under their gear this season. Our fans are also going to find that the Medalist products we're going to stock at the Fan-Attic not only look and feel great, but also can withstand the challenges of all types of extreme conditions."
David Ferguson, the president of Medalist stated, "with a century long history of innovation, our company has proven itself as a leading manufacturer of products that enhance performance and comfort in the most extreme conditions. Medalist has long been recognized as a leading brand of choice among premium retailers and consumers in the hunting, winter sports, and tactical markets. We're confident that the Royals are going to find that our Silvermax technology performance apparel is perfectly suited for use as a base layer cover under their hockey gear. Our product not only is proven to control odor and the body's thermodynamic temperature, but also allows for the freedom of movement that is critical in a compression-styled under wear garment."
Medalist, which has been in business for over 100 years, has been an important supplier for troops in the military context dating back to World War I. While supplying performance apparel in the hunting, winter sports, and tactical markets, Medalist's products have been tested under the most extreme of conditions over the years, including use in outer-space by NASA. Medalist has recently launched a new and expanded line of performance apparel products, which range in fiber weights from an extremely light "silkweight" fabric to a more heavy-weight-and warm-"microskin powerstretch" fabric. Medalist products also include a full line of outer wear jackets and pants, polo shirts, gloves, socks and hats.
