
Michigan Natives Join Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with Brandon Kaleniecki and Andrew Contois for the 2006-07 season. Both forwards played their college hockey in the state of Michigan.
Kaleniecki finished his senior season at the University of Michigan last year posting 29 points off of 17 goals and 12 assists in 36 games. He collected a team leading 9 power play goals last year for the Wolverines.
The Livonia, Michigan native completed his collegiate career with 100 points in 159 collegiate games. He also helped the University of Michigan to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four seasons.
Presented by the University of Michigan coaching staff, Kaleniecki received the Joseph E. Barss Award in his senior season. The award is presented to the best team player. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection and a U-M Athletic Academic Achievement award winner during his senior season.
Contois completed his senior season last year at Northern Michigan Univeristy where he collected 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 37 games. He also appeared in 6 games for the Idaho Steelheads following the completion of the collegiate season and collected a goal and 6 assists for 7 points in 6 games. He went scoreless in 3 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Steelheads last season.
The Marquette, Michigan native had his best collegiate year during the 2004-05 season collecting a career high 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points. He finished with 97 points in 131 career games with the Wildcats.
Contois was named the Jim Mussatto Memorial Fitness Award winner during his senior season last year helping Northern Michigan to a 22-16-2 record and an appearance in the CCHA Semi-Finals.
