
Mechanics Complete 3-1 Week With Jersey Auction

Fraser, MI â The Motor City Mechanics went 3-1 this week, including a 10-2 route of Richmond and a 4-3 win over top ranked Adirondack.
Wednesday, March 16th @ Port Huron 6-1 WIN: Led by a Sean Avery hat trick, his second of the season, the Mechanics dominated the struggling Beacons 6-1. Avery (3g, 2a), Jeff Doyle (2g, 3a) and Bryan Smolinski (1g, 4a) each notched five points on the night. Derian Hatcher, Chris Chelios and Jason Reimers each added assists and goaltender Rod Branch made 38 saves between the pipes.
Friday, March 18th vs. Adirondack 4-3 WIN: With the game tied at three and just 1:10 remaining in the third period, Bryan Smolinski scored to give the Mechanics their fifth consecutive win, and a victory over the top ranked Adirondack Frostbite. Matt Hunter, Chris Gignac and Chris Chelios were the other goal scorers for Motor City. Hunter also added an assist on the night.
Saturday, March 19th vs. Richmond 10-2 WIN: Led by a Jeff Doyle hat trick, and five points from Chelios and Smolinski, the Mechanics dominated the Richmond RiverDogs and scored a franchise high ten goals. With the game tied at two after the first period, Motor City took control of the game and scored three goals in the second period and five more in the third and out shot the visiting RiverDogs 47-32.
Sunday, March 20th vs. Muskegon 5-2 Loss: The Muskegon Fury put an end to the Mechanics six game winning streak on Sunday. Despite out shooting the number one team in the UHL 41-23, the Mechanics couldn't get past netminder Sylvain Daigle. Sean Avery and Chris Gignac scored for the Mechanics.
NEXT: The Mechanics hit the road for four games in five nights, beginning Wednesday, March 23 at Flint. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Mechanics continue their drive to make the playoffs in Adirondack, Danbury and Elmira. Elmira is the only team, other than Muskegon, that the Mechanics have not defeated this season.
MEET THE MECHANICS! The entire Motor City squad will be at Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Utica TOMORROW Tuesday, March 22nd from 7-9pm. You can meet the team, get autographs, take photos win prizes and enjoy the food! Hatchy's is located at 7759 Auburn Rd. in Utica.
Next Home Games: The Mechanics return home March 30th when they host the Flint Generals at 7:30pm. The Mechanics are also home on April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th for their final home games of the season. On Sunday, April 3rd, the Mechanics host Fort Wayne and the game will be televised live on UPN 50 Detroit.
Pink At The Rink: On Sunday, the entire Mechanics squad wore pink jerseys when they faced the Muskegon Fury. Following the game, the jerseys were auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The auction raised over $14,000! Thank you to all the Mechanics fans that bought jerseys to support this great cause.
Congrats to Carl: The Motor City Mechanics would like to extend a congratulations to NASCAR star Carl Edwards, who won both the Busch Series race and Nextel Cup race over the weekend. Edwards was the featured guest at the Mechanics January 30th game during NASCAR Night.
Final Jersey Auction: On April 6th, the Mechanics host Muskegon for their final home game of the season. The entire team will auction off their game worn home jerseys following the game. All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia Foundation of Michigan.
