In Brief

· 3/16: It was the NHL Players Who Stole The Show

The NHL players made the difference in this final match-up with the Mechanics. Of the Mechanics 18 points on the night 12 of them came from the four NHL'ers. Bryan Smolinski had 5 pts (1g, 4a), Sean Avery had 5 pts (3g, 2a) while Derian Hatcher and Chris Chelios each had one assist. After watching this game, one can understand why and how these four individuals play in the NHL. The lone Beacon goal came by Joey Sewell (24) with helpers from Josh Tataryn (16) and Gabriel Proulx (20).

· 3/18: Fort Wayne Takes the Season Series

In the final visit to Fort Wayne the Beacons jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. Trevor Edwards (15) scored short-handed with a helper from Malcolm MacMillan (22). It was the first of three on the evening for Edwards, who would record his first professional hat trick. Other Beacons netting assists were Jeff Goldie (2), Aaron Brand (44), Rico Fatticci (14) and Andrew McPherson (35). Kory Cooper made his first start in the Beacons net since returning off of team suspension, stopping 40 of 44 shots.

· 3/19: First of a Home and home

The Beacons faced the IceHogs for the fifth time on the year with the ‘Hogs leading the season series 5-1-0. The ‘Hogs started quickly and before the Beacons could blink they were down 2-0. The Beacons fought back and eventually tied the game to force a shootout. Scoring for the Beacons were Kyle Sheen (3) and David Beauregard (39). Andrew McPherson tallied two assists on the night (36,37). No Beacons would score in the shootout and Rockford's Rod Aldoff ended the game in the fourth round when he beat Kory Cooper.

· 3/20: Second game of the Home and home

It was déjà vu for the Beacons, down 2-0 to the IceHogs once again. However, at 2:44 of the second period David Beauregard (40) tallied his team leading 14th Power play goal. Chris Slater (19) and Jeff Goldie (3) notched the assists on the goal to cut the lead in half. However, Rockford would score three of the next four goals. The only other goal scorer was Aaron Brand (25) in the third period, the goal was unassisted. Kory Cooper made his third start in as many days making 28 saves on 33 shots.

Upcoming Games: Week Twenty-Four

· 3/23: The Matinee game

The first ever Beacon matinee game, sees the Beacons facing the inspiration behind the matinee game, Kalamazoo Wings. Through six games this season the Wings have won all six games. FACE-OFF: 11:00 a.m.

· 3/25: Beacons Face the Wings again

The Wings come into McMorran for the second time in three days. FACE-OFF: 7:05 p.m.

· 3/26: The second to last road game

The Beacons face the Flint Generals in what will be their second to last road trip of the season. The Generals are one of four teams that the Beacons have a winning record against; 4-2-1 through seven games. FACE-OFF: 7:35 p.m.

· 3/27: Easter Sunday Special

Missouri comes to town for the last time this season. Through four games this season the ‘Otters lead the season series 3-1-0. FACE-OFF: 5:05 p.m.

Brand-O-Meter!

Aaron Brand is only 12 points behind Michel Beausoleil for third all time on the Beacons scoring list after notching two points this week. Brand currently sits at 55 goals 69 assists for 124 points in 141 games played.

Player of the Week

The Beacons nominate David Beauregard as the Sher Wood Player of the week. Beauregard finished the week with 3 points in 4 games played. Beauregard was -2 for the week and tallied 2 goals and 1 assist for the weekend's action, including 1 PPG vs. Rockford.

Goaltender of the Week

The Beacons nominate Kory Cooper as the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week. Cooper finished the week 0-2-1 in 179:04 minutes played with 105 saves on 116 shots for a .910 SV% and a 3.69 GAA.

The coaches show returns to the Brass Rail for another exciting season. Join Beacons play-by-play announcer, Dennis Stuckey along with Head Coach, Rick Adduono for in depth analysis of the weekend's action and questions from fans of all ages. Select Beacon players will also be appearing throughout the season. Of course if you cannot make it down to the Brass Rail you can always tune into AM 1450 and AM 1590, also your home for hockey action all year long both home and away.
