McNeill named Covenant HealthCare Player of the Week

The Saginaw Spirit would like to congratulate defenseman Patrick McNeill for being named the Covenant HealthCare Player of the Week.

McNeill was awarded the honors for his efforts in the Spirit games this past weekend. He had 2 goals, 2 assists and was +1 in three games. To date this season McNeill has notched 13 goals, 15 assists and is +6.

McNeill was chosen first overall by the Spirit in the 2003 OHL Priority Selection. The native of Strathroy, Ontario won a gold medal in the 2004 World U-17 Challenge and the 2004 World Junior Cup. McNeill also participated in the 2006 OHL All-Star Classic, notched a goal in the 2006 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge, and was recently invited to the World Junior's U-20 Team Canada Selection Camp. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
