Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) night when the Owen Sound Attack visits the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start.
Tickets for the game are available at all Erie area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office. The game can also be heard live on 1330 Erie's ESPN Radio and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The Otters enter the game with a record of 7-20-0-2 and coming off a 4-2 loss to the Mississauga IceDogs on home ice on Saturday.
During their latest five-game stretch Erie has posted a 2-3 record and, more importantly, reduced their goals against significantly allowing only three goals per game compared to 5.6 goals per game in the first 24 games of the schedule. Solid goaltending has been the backbone of the defensive turnaround as the trio of Justin Garay, Jonathan Laniel and Ryan Ludzik have all turned in outstanding efforts in recent games. Combined with a 3.00 goals against average, the three net minders have posted a .916 save percentage giving their teammates an opportunity to win on a nightly basis.
Owen Sound arrives in Erie with a record of 15-13-0-2 and coming off a 4-3 home loss to the Sarnia Sting on Sunday. The Attack have lost four of their last five overall and three straight on the road.
Bobby Ryan, selected second overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, leads the Attack in scoring with 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points in 28 games. The fourth-year forward, who is listed 14th in OHL scoring, saw a nine-game point streak end on Sunday.
Owen Sound has been fortified by the addition of Anthony Guadagnolo, acquired last week from the Windsor Spitfires. The overage goaltender started the last two Attack games posting a 1-1 record with a 3.50 goals against average and an .889 save percentage.
Wednesday's game will mark the fourth in the six-game season series. The Attack won the first three meetings including an 8-4 victory the last time the two teams met on October 28th at the Tullio Arena.
