Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 11-5 on Wednesday night at Joe Bruno Stadium, despite the first two home runs of Alex McKenna's Minor League career.

McKenna was responsible for four of the ValleyCats' five runs, blasting a three-run bomb to right field in the first inning.

The home run tied the game's score at 3-3, moments after Brooklyn chased Tri-City's starter Devin Conn out of the game in the first inning.

Conn hit three batters and walked one, before Chase Chambers hit a sacrifice fly to score Jose Medina with the game's first run.

After Conn was replaced by Juan Pablo Lopez with two outs, Anthony Dirocie then drove a two-run single into right field resulting in the Cyclones' 3-0 lead.

After each team exchanged its first trio of runs, the game went stagnant until the fourth inning.

Juan Pablo Lopez left the game moments after Jose Brizuela brought home Carlos Cortes with an RBI-groundout to give the Cyclones a 4-3 lead.

With one out in the inning, Felipe Tejada then surrendered a three-run home run to Medina, handing Brooklyn a four-run lead.

The Cyclones would then go on to tack on four more runs between the sixth and eighth innings, highlighted by Medina's second home run of the day.

The ValleyCats chipped away with Alex McKenna's second home run of the game in the eighth inning, when he made the score 11-4 Brooklyn.

Austin Dennis then brought home the game's final run with a single in the ninth inning to cement the game's final score at 11-5 Brooklyn.

Now 18-14 on the season, the ValleyCats are locked in a tie with the Lowell Spinners for first place in the Stedler Division.

They will return to Joe Bruno Stadium on Thursday night, looking to stave off a three-game sweep with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

Coverage will begin on MiLB.tv and the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano approximately 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
