NYPL Batavia Muckdogs

Muckdogs Game Notes

July 18, 2018 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Batavia Muckdogs News Release

Today's Game- The Muckdogs are in Williamsport, PA to take on the Crosscutters in the middle game of a three game set. The two teams are separated by one game in the NYPL Pinckney Division Standings

That was last night- The Muckdogs pitchers did not allow a hit through the first seven innings of the game yesterday. Williamsport tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, forcing extras. Denis Karas hit an opposite field homer as a part of a four-run tenth for Batavia as they won 7-5.

Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in eight of his last nine games. He's tallied ten hits, and has crossed the plate five times in that span. He is tied for second on the team with two home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.

Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently is the league leader in home runs and and second RBI's and in runs scored. He is also tied for the league lead in walks with 20.

Jammed Up July- Batavia's offense has slowed up significantly in the month of July. They have opened up the first half of the month with a 7-9 record, and have scored only 3.7 runs per game. That has taken a steep decline from the 5.2 runs per game that the Muckdogs were putting up in June.

Flipping the script- To start off the season, Batavia had settled themselves within the top five in the NYPL in batting average and runs, but have since slipped from that peak. Meanwhile, the opposite has happened for the pitching staff. The Muckdogs arms have now settled with the sixth best ERA in the league after starting off in the bottom end of the league.

Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 16 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-12 in those contests.

Recent Roster Action- On July 16th, 3B Bubba Hollins was assigned to Batavia, and INF Chris Torres was transfered to the GCL Marlins.

Marlins Update- JT Realmuto was the lone represenative for the Marlins in the MLB All-Star game last night, as the AL topped the NL 8-6 in 10 innings. Realmuto went 0-0 with two walks in two plate appearances.
