TROY, NY (July 17, 2018) - Jaison Vilera silenced the Tri-City ValleyCats over seven shutout frames Tuesday night to lead the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, to a 5-0 victory at Bruno Stadium in the series opener.

BIG MOMENTS

For the second consecutive start, Jaison Vilera fanned a career-high-tying nine batters over seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk. The righthander struck out six of the final seven he faced, including all three in a perfect seventh.

Hayden Senger drove in his first run as a Cyclone, plating Ross Adolph in the ninth inning to push the advantage to 5-0.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first two innings. Nick Meyer doubled and scored in the second inning on Chandler Avant's run-scoring groundout.

Jaison Vilera has a 0.86 ERA over three July starts, including consecutive seven-inning shutout performances.

With two more scoreless innings Tuesday, the relievers lowered their ERA to 1.45 (seven earned runs in 43.1 IP).

Wagner Lagrange collected his third three-hit performance, while Ross Adolph collected his second.
