Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders receiver Marquay McDaniel has been named one of the CFL's players of the week for Week 14 of the Canadian Football League season.
The veteran slotback had nine receptions for 159 yards - both season highs - in the Stamps' 25-23 road victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday. McDaniel was instrumental on the drive that led to Calgary's first touchdown of the game as he made three catches for 65 yards on that march alone to set up the first score of rookie Lemar Durant's career. He also had a 33-yard catch on a third-quarter drive that resulted in a Bo Levi Mitchell rushing touchdown.
For the season, McDaniel ranks second in the CFL with 63 receptions and third with 815 receiving yards. It's the second time this season the Virginia Beach, Va., native has received a weekly CFL award as he was previous honoured in Week 6.
Other Stamps winners this season have been Jeff Fuller (Week 1), Jon Cornish (Week 4), Mitchell (Week 8) and Charleston Hughes (Week 11).
