Tiger-Cats Sign Defensive Back Jalil Carter

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the football club has signed international defensive back Jalil Carter.

"Jalil Carter is a proven player in this league and is a great addition to our secondary," said Tiger-Cats Vice-President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach, Kent Austin.

Carter, a 6-1, 205-pound native of Toledo, Ohio, attended the Minnesota Vikings training camp in 2015 and was released on August 30. Carter has appeared in 34 career CFL regular season games since 2012, all with the Toronto Argonauts, registering 114 tackles, six sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. He also started two playoff games in 2012, including the 100th Grey Cup where he helped lead the Argonauts to a 35-22 win over the Calgary Stampeders.

Carter, who also spent time in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams in 2011, attended the University of Akron from 2007 to 2010. He played 48 games with the Zips, collecting 118 tackles, three interceptions, one sack and two forced fumbles. In his senior season in 2012, he also played wide receiver and posted 412 yards on 30 receptions with two receiving touchdowns.
