Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release
HIDALGO, TX: February 10, 2005 â The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 announced their first returning member form last season's squad, as lineman Kenny McClain has been assigned to the Dorados 2005 roster by the af2. "Kenny is a player that we evaluated on film (from last season's team) that we feel is good enough to bring back," said Dorados Head Coach Kevin Guy. "He is a solid pass blocker and we want to improve his pass rush to make him a solid two-way lineman."
McClain joined the Dorados last season on 6/17/04 and appeared in five games. The 24 year-old contributed 4 tackles (3 solo) in the five games and also tallied one tackle for a loss. His single best game with the Dorados came on 7/10/04 against Oklahoma City, which he registered 2 tackles.
The 6'5" 315 pound Pennsauken, New Jersey native turned pro with the Dorados after closing out a four year college tenure at NCAA Div. 1-AA Delaware State University. He played with the Hornets program from 1999 - 2002, appearing in 25 games. McClain began his college career on the defensive side of the ball, lining up as linebacker, but later moved to the offensive side of the ball and played on the line and at tight end. A journalism major, McClain obtained Mid Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic honors in 2001/02. McClain prepped at Pennsauken High School and was part of three consecutive conference title squads (1996 - 1998).
The addition of McClain to the Dorados roster gives them 19 members announced to the 2005 squad, joining Brian Baker (QB), John Bradley (OL/DL), J.R. Davies (QB), Sterling Finney (WR/DB), Marquis Floyd (WR/DB), Wil Goff (OL/DL), Will Goodloe (OL/DL), Josh Kellett (QB), Marquis Landrom (WR/DB), Joseph Lemberg (OS), Moses Lewis (TBD), Travis McAlpine (WR/DB), Ben McCombs (DE, FB/LB), David Morrill (FB/LB), Antoine Murphy (OL/DL), Pierre Thomas (WR/DB) and Josh Tubbs (OL/DL). Media members seeking an interview with McClain or Coach Guy are encouraged to contact Chris Due with the Dorados at 956-843-7825. McClain remained in the Valley after the close of last season and spent the offseason working locally.
